We have had and will be having a very busy term. Here’s what’s been happening.
As an Easter treat, Grazeley had some very special fluffy chicks staying for two weeks. We watched them grow from egg to chicken and even saw a couple hatching! The children got a chance to hold and stroke them. Some of the girls have been given a home by one of our families and we held a competition to see what their name would be. They have been named Muffin, Chirpy, Peggy and Daisy. The Easter service proved to be a big hit and with every class participating something, it was a great show for the parents.
By the time you have read this, all the children will have done several assessments over Maths, English and Science. We wish them all the best of luck.
Over the half term, the classes were given a group of words to learn for the sponsored spell we held in aid of the Alexander Devine Hospice. The children were asked to choose a number of words to try to spell and achieve and then all the money was given to the charity. A sibling of a child at Grazeley is treated there, so we have a very special connection with it.
We have launched a new gardening club and lots of children have signed up. We have a display as you walk into the school of welly-boot pot plants. Athletics and tennis club are very popular and is helping the children by learning a new sport. Year 5 and 6 have a football tournament coming up at the madejski stadium. We hope they do very well.
Year 3 have been learning about romans and were baking Roman Bread. It tasted very good! On Fridays, after school, the PTA have been selling ice creams to us all. It’s good that the weather has been so nice to have them.
The first half of this term is very short so we are all looking forward to the holidays. We have been working very hard in the lead up to our tests so the short break will be very nice for us all.
